Job Description

We are hiring an experienced AS400 SME with strong expertise in IBM AS400 / iSeries systems, RPG programming, and Banking & Payment applications.

The ideal candidate will act as a Technical SME / L3 Production Support expert, responsible for supporting mission-critical banking systems, resolving production issues, fixing defects, handling deployments, and ensuring stability of payment-related applications.

This role requires a senior professional who can work across application support, troubleshooting, bug fixing, and platform transition / migration activities in a high-availability banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the AS400 Subject Matter Expert (SME) for banking and payment applications

  • Provide L3 Production Support for critical business applications running on AS400 / iSeries 

  • Analyze and resolve production incidents, defects, bugs, and system issues 

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring production problems

  • Support banking payment systems and ensure smooth transaction processing

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to batch jobs, interfaces, system logs, and application failures 

  • Support application deployments, release activities, and post-deployment validations 

  • Work on customer migration / platform transition initiatives, ensuring continuity and system stability

  • Collaborate with business users, operations teams, development teams, and infrastructure teams 

  • Provide technical guidance and support during critical incidents and production outages 

  • Maintain support documentation, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks

  • Ensure adherence to incident management, change management, and release management processes

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM iSeries 

  • Strong programming experience in:

    •  RPG / RPGLE 

    •  CL 

    •  DB2 

  • Experience in Application Support / Production Support 

  • Strong knowledge of:

    •  Bug Fixing / Defect Resolution 

    •  Incident Management 

    •  Log Analysis 

    •  Deployment & Release Support 

    •  Batch Job Monitoring 

    •  Root Cause Analysis 

  • Good understanding of legacy banking platforms and transaction systems 

Domain Experience

  • Strong experience in Banking 

  • Good understanding of Payments systems 

  • Exposure to:

    • Payment transaction processing

    • Platform migration / transition

    • Customer migration from one system to another

    • High-volume transactional environments
