In this role you will:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Germany (DE) Core Banking Applications to provide technical leadership, guidance, and support for the design, development, integration, and maintenance of core banking systems.
The SME will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of banking applications, and will play a key role in modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
Serve as the technical authority for the Germany core banking platform (z series – Mainframe) – Cobol, JCL, DB2 and CICS, Account Management and Sub-Ledger applications modules, and integrations.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions aligned with best practices.
Lead the design, customization, and implementation of core banking application features.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex issues in production and non-production environments.
Collaborate with business analysts, developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Participate in vendor evaluations, solution assessments, and proof-of-concept activities.
Mentor and train junior team members on core banking technologies and processes.
Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in core banking.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years as a technical SME or lead in core banking applications like Account Management, Product Management, Transactions, Sub-ledger, Transactions, Fees, Interests and charges etc).
Strong understanding of core banking processes (accounts, payments, loans, deposits, transaction posting etc.).
Proficiency in application architecture, integration patterns, and API management.
Experience in transforming legacy applications and building transition states for achieving future state platforms. Experience with digital banking, microservices architecture using Java / Sprinboot, Python or modernization.
Expertise in using services of public cloud platforms like GCP, AWS.
Experience with relational databases (DB2, SQL Server, Postgre SQLetc.) and data modeling.
Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or engineering background.
Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in relevant programming languages and Cloud technologies mentioned above & Knowledge of regulatory frameworks like GDPR etc.
