Job Description

As a Mainframe Print Support Administration at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years in mainframe systems support with solid working knowledge of Distributed print software and/or Mainframe print software .

  • Print software support & Output management.

  • Strong hands‑on experience in Install, configure , Upgrade and maintenance of mainframe print support products both IBM and ISV.

  • Knowledgeable of planning activities related to upgrades, development testing, systems architecture and migration planning.

  • Maintain JES2/JES3 print routing policies (classes, forms, FSS writers, NJE/NJI routing, VTAM, LTERMs, destinations).

  • Configure and tune output queues, writer startup/shutdown behavior, error recovery, and reprint/hold/release workflows.

  • Manage PSF (Print Services Facility) , provide creation and modification of AFP resources (pagedef, formdef, overlay, page segment, fonts)

  • Integrate additional IBM/Vendor ISV print components as required.

  • Solid understanding of z/OS operations (SDSF, console, JES commands), NJE, TCP/IP print protocols.

  • Familiarity with certificate/TLS enablement for IP PrintWay Extended and secured endpoints.

  • Exposure to capacity planning for spool volumes and print throughput.

  • Knowledge on below products are required: LRS Software (VPS, VPSX, VSV, VPSMPX, VMCFVTAM and DRSV) , SF & AFP resources (pagedef, formdef, overlay, page segment, fonts),Infoprint , CMOD, Solimar, MVS, JES Print

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Daily monitoring of the print queues to manage capacity.

  • Lead incident triage for JES/print failures (writer abends, device errors, transform failures, network issues).

  • Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure HA/DR for print services (redundant writers, alternate destinations, cross‑site routing);

  • Participate in DR tests.

  • Maintain change records, risk/impact analyses, validation/back‑out plans, and post‑implementation reviews.

  • Create and Maintain standard print workflow, runbooks, and design docs for security controls, and operational procedures.
