SAS Application Consultant
Job Description
You’ll be joining CIBC’s Enterprise Technology Team. As a member of CIBC’s team, the SAS Application Consultant is responsible for the detailed technical design and development of applications using various technology platforms. The role performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions. The SAS Application Consultant determines methods and approaches to projects, transforming business requirements specifications into programming instructions, designing, coding and testing programs. The role uses judgement and autonomy on day-to-day tasks, exercising considerable latitude to conduct data source analysis and negotiate with users regarding requirements.

How you'll succeed
Programming Skills - Develop, code and test end-to-end stack of applications. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, and debugging.
Systems Implementation - Participate and conduct technical design, development, and integration of cross functional, multi-platform application systems. Familiarity with database technologies is preferred.
Troubleshooting and Technical Skills – Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management. Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects
Relationship Management - Build strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors and peers. Lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved. Express oneself and communicate with others verbally at an advanced level; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience. 5-10 plus years as an Application Developer/Support and Integration Specialist wearing multiple hats to help support internal clients. You must have good knowledge and understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Solid knowledge of Programming languages (SAS, JCL, Unix scripting), Databases (Oracle, SQL, Azure), Batch processing (Mainframe, Unix platforms) and knowledge of Firewalls, FTP and SFTP. Proven expertise in System Analysis and Design, with the ability to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions. Experience in application production support including logical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage relationships with technology and business partners to ensure the systems and processes supporting the applications are operating effectively and efficiently. Experience working in a Waterfall and/or Iterative/ Agile development environment is preferred. Nice-to-have skills: SAS Viya, Python and Databricks.
You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science or a related field of study.
