About the Role:

Are you ready to shape the future of digital experiences at Curtin University? Our Student Lifecycle Engagement team, within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Developer to lead the design, development, and delivery of modern, impactful digital solutions that enhance the way our students and staff connect, learn, and engage.

As a Senior Developer, you’ll drive complex development projects from concept to completion by designing, coding, testing, and implementing innovative solutions that make a real difference. You’ll mentor and guide other developers, share your expertise across the team, and ensure our systems run smoothly and efficiently.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your creativity and technical skill together in a collaborative environment, where your work will directly shape the digital landscape of one of Australia’s leading universities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions aligned with Curtin’s strategic goals and technology standards.

Champion modern development practices, including clean code, automated testing, security, scalability, and reusability.

Collaborate within Agile cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Testers, and Solution Architects.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Perform technical feasibility assessments of new products, features and designs.

Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend innovative solutions to improve systems and processes.

We are looking for (selection criteria):

A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proven experience developing complex, enterprise-level cloud applications.

Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with modern UI frameworks such as Vue.js (or similar frameworks like React or Angular).

Strong experience with .NET (C#), including ASP.NET MVC and Web API development.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure Functions (serverless computing), App Services, Azure Blob Storage / Table Storage, Azure Key Vault, and Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.

Solid understanding of SQL Server, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.

Strong grasp of design patterns, unit/integration testing, secure coding practices, and maintainable architecture.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket), and collaborative development workflows.

Role Requirements:

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
